Gospel Mom

How can moms stay grounded in their faith? In Gospel Mom, Emily A. Jensen and Lauren Wifler share how to make biblical decisions nad discover the mom God created you to be.

Purpose and Mission

This book transcends a simple guide or how-to manual; it offers a profound framework for nurturing your motherhood. In Chapter 1, I was moved by the reminder that God designs everything for good. When parenting feels overwhelming, it brings me peace to know that God is in control and that we are called to flourish as we follow Him.

Being a gospel mom doesn’t shield us from the challenges of life. Our human nature can hinder us from fully embracing God’s plan, affecting our thoughts, words, and actions. Yet, through redemption in Christ, we can align our lives with God’s intentions and design. We can be freed from the burdens of sin and the pressures of performance and status. Our assurance of future hope and eternity provides us with purpose and mission for today.

Disciplines and Habits

The book thoughtfully explores spiritual disciplines and habits as important pathways for growth. I found it particularly helpful to realize that true peace comes not from the latest life hacks, but from cultivating an intimate and deep relationship with Jesus. Spiritual habits include nurturing friendships, enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, and finding genuine rest in the Word and within the church community, all while caring for our physical well-being.

A standout section of the book is Part 3, which thoughtfully addresses unique circumstances, personal conscience, and heart motivations. It recognizes that being a faithful gospel mom looks different for everyone, as no two stories are alike. These chapters were rich with theological implications and practical applications.

Obedience and Faithfulness

Gospel Mom offers a comforting insight: success as a Christian mother isn’t defined by outcomes, but by obedience and faithfulness to our Heavenly Father. God is actively working, even when we can’t see it, and this is especially encouraging for mothers navigating the daily challenges of life.
