Two Features of Christian Fellowship

Aaron Lee | May 2, 2025 | AWANA | Ephesians 4:1-3

Introduction

Our topic today is fellowship. The Bible says that Christians have fellowship with each other. This means to share a common goal, to have the same mission, to be friends on a journey together. What are the features of Christian fellowship?

…walk worthy of the calling you all have received, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3)

1. Humility

…walk worthy of the calling you have received, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3)

Application

Philippians says do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. To serve each other. How can you serve each other at church?

2. Unity

…walk worthy of the calling you have received, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3)

Application

1 Peter says to have unity of mind. Our minds must be conformed to the Bible as the standard. How can you make sure your heart and mind is aligned with God’s word?

Gospel

Christian fellowship is actually more than just fellowship with people. It’s fellowship with God:

7 If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)

Conclusion

In our passage today, Paul tells the church to walk worthy of the calling you have received. The calling that Christians receive is the call to belong to the family of God.

…walk worthy of the calling you have received, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3)

Big Idea

Christian fellowship means sharing in the family of God.
