Suffering and Saved
Two Expectations for God’s People
Aaron Lee | August 31, 2025 | FCBCW Children’s Worship | Psalm 34:19-21
Introduction
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. (Psalm 34:19)
1. The Righteous Suffer
To be afflicted is to be persecuted and to suffer.
Application
Will you expect persecution and suffering, and will you endure?
2. The Lord Saves
To be delivered is to be heard and saved.
Application
Will you turn to God and pray, and will you trust that God will hear you and save you?
Gospel
Jesus is our example of the righteous sufferer:
He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. (Psalm 34:20)
33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs… 36 For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken.” (John 19:36)
Conclusion
The wicked will face condemnation while the righteous will see salvation:
21 Affliction will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. 22 The Lord redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned. (Psalm 34:21)
Big Idea
Just like Jesus, Christians are not exempt from suffering but will be saved from eternal death.
